Medicare Part A pays for Swing Bed, or Medicare-certified skilled nursing services. Health policies differ, so our admission coordinator will verify coverage.
A patient may receive Medicare skilled nursing services when: a patient meets Medicare criteria, has days left in the benefit period and the physician approves the stay.
In many cases, patients are not ready to return home after a hospital stay. They need more time to recover, strengthen and heal before they can step back into the routine of independent living. That’s how the Swing Bed Program of Bienville Medical Center can help.
The Swing Bed Program of Bienville Medical Center is a Medicare-certified skilled nursing program that provides patients with rehabilitative therapy. The program’s qualified, caring staff eases the patients' transition from acute hospital care to home or other residential living arrangements.
Swing Bed patients play an active role in their care. They are encouraged to dress everyday for their participation in therapy, exercises and activities designed to help return home.
Guided by Bienville Medical Center’s caring staff, patients practice skills of daily living such as eating, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene and performing household tasks.
The Swing Bed Team welcomes families to visit frequently and bring books, games and hobbies for their loved ones to enjoy. The Activities Coordinator can then incorporate these into the patient’s care plan.
